An onomatopoeia is a word that imitates or suggests the source of the sound that it describes, or in simpler terms, it is a word that imitates the sound it represents. In the song “Not Afraid” by Eminem there is one use of an onomatopoeia. The onomatopoeia being used is when he says “…All I’m tryin’ to say is get back, click-clack, pow…”. This is being used as the sound of a gun in the song; it also makes the sound in it too. It is a good use of an onomatopoeia, definitely for a song.If you would like to listen to the song, you can use the following link

A metaphor is a comparison is made between two unlike things that actually have something in common.  In an easier way it is the concept of understanding one thing in terms of another. In the song “My Chick Bad” by Ludacris there is multiple metaphors in it. The metaphor is the name of the song and it is repeated a lot. There are more uses of metaphors, but they are a lot of them. There are also a few similes and other uses of stuff other than just words. If you would like to listen to the song, you can use the following link

An idiom is an expression whose meaning is not predictable from the usual meanings of its constituent elements. In the song “Heat of the Moment” by Asia there is a use of an idiom. The idiom is the name of the song and it is used multiple times throughout the song. It is in the chorus, or repeated verse in the song, and it says “…It was the Heat of the Moment…”.  This describes how someone felt and it says in the song “…Telling me what your heart meant…” so that is the way they thought about it. An idiom is an expression whose meaning is not predictable from the usual meanings of its constituent elements.  In the song “Head over Heels” by the Go-Gos there is a use of an idiom and it’s the title of the song. The band is probably using this to describe how they are feeling by saying that they are exciting mainly because they are in love or something. The saying is pretty easy for me to understand and it’s a very common saying. I like this song and the saying head over heels works with it well. An onomatopoeia is a word that imitates or suggests the source of the sound that it describes, or in simpler terms, it is a word that imitates the sound it represents. In the song “Boom Boom Pow” by the Black Eyed Peas there are multiple uses of an onomatopoeia but most of them are repeated. The main onomatopoeia used is whenever they say Boom or Boom Boom Pow. Through tout the song they say it a lot, they probably say it to make it more catchy and because it’s the title of the song.  If you would like to listen to the song, you can use the following link

An alliteration is the repetition of a particular sound in the first syllables of a series of words and/or phrases.  In the song “In the End” by Linkin Park there is one use of an alliteration but it repeats itself for than once.  The alliteration is “…What it meant to me will eventually be a memory…”.  The rhyme and alliteration are said fast in the song so it goes with the song and the beat of it.  It works well and describes how he feels about the past and what happened.  The band uses it well and just one person says the fast-paced lines.  If you would like to listen to the song, you can use the following link

An alliteration is the repetition of a particular sound in the first syllables of a series of words and/or phrases.  In the song “Waiting for the End” by Linkin Park there is one use of an alliteration. The use of it is “…Just a voice like a riot rockin’ every revision..”.  The band uses this in the beginning of the song and it goes with the beat really well.  It descibes what someone would do just whenever they feel like doing something.  It’s not encouraging a bad attitude but still it sounds like it is.  If you would like to listen to the song, you can use the following link

Personification is  an ontological metaphor in which a thing or abstraction is represented as a person; or giving human traits, qualities, feelings, action, or characteristics to a nonhuman.  In the song “Stronger” by Kanye West there is one use of personification.  The use of personification is “…I’m trippin’, this drink got me sayin’ a lot…”.  He uses this line to describe how he has been drinking alot and it says that the drink is making him talk or say stuff he shouldn’t.  The line that he uses goes with the beat of the song well and I like how he uses it.  If you would like to listen to the song, you can use the following link

A metaphor is a comparison is made between two unlike things that actually have something in common.  In an easier way it is  the concept of understanding one thing in terms of another.  In the song “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses there is one metaphor.  The metaphor that I am using is “…She’s got eyes of the bluest skies…”.  The metaphor is describing what he sees in her eyes.  This seems to be the only metaphor but there is one that looks like one in the beginning of the song.  If you would like to listen to the song, you can use the following link

A hyperbole is the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. In the “Grenade” by Bruno Mars there are many uses of hyperboles. The first is “…I’d catch a grenade for you..” the second is “…Throw my hand on a blade for you…” the third is “…I’d jump in front of a train for you..” the fourth is “…You know I’d do anything for you…”  the fifth is “…Take a bullet straight through my brain…” and the sixth is “…I would  die for you…”.  All these are just in the chorus so they repeat throughout the song.  There are more hyperboles but a few too many for me to write them all down. He probably uses these to make the song more catchy and because he says he would do these things for this girl that he likes.  If you would like to listen to this song, you can use the following link
